Question About College Visits

So I have about 2 more weeks to make my decision on which school to attend next year. I am visiting my top 2 schools next week. What criteria or questions should I look for/ask at the tours next week?

Dorms

What there is to do on campus

Profs

What people do on the weekend

Class size

Campus atmosphere

Stuff like that…And if you can, stay overnight. You get a real feel for the school that way.

Take a tour/info session. But after explore everything on your own, taste the food at the cafeteria, read the school newspapers, check out student centers and see events going on.

But I think the most valuable thing to do is to talk to students. Find some people who look nice and outgoing and I’m sure they will be honest and glad to talk with you. Ask what they both like and dislike about the school, what made them love the school, where else they applied, favorite things to do etc. That will hopefully make your decision clearer. Good luck!

what are your top schools btw?

I’m visiting Clemson Thursday and Friday, Virginia Tech on Saturday and Sunday

Obviously, info sessions and tours are marketing events so keep that in mind.

However, if you can read body language you can gauge how committed they are to some answers.

Also, somewhat different questions can get very different responses. Ask a student what there is to do on campus on weekends will draw a stock response. Ask him where kids bail to on weekends might be more interesting and informative.

Pierre,

Congratulations and good luck. Attend one or more classes in your possible major. You can tell much from the tone of the class, including whether you would fit it in with the level and pace.
