THE QUESTION:
would the number of applications to lets say UPENN wharton from the same school affect the chances that the students would be accepted in other words- if a person applys to the same school u are applying to and he has better stats then would that decrease your chance to get in?

I don’t think you’ll get into Wharton. For them, your stats are low and there’s really nothing in your ECs that stand out. You took a good number of APs but so did everyone else. The thing working for you the most is your ethnicity. Otherwise, there’s nothing. I’d be surprised if you were waitlisted.

can you say anything about the other colleges?? and also can u answer my question?

I’m not familiar enough with the other colleges (except UVa of course) to comment accurately on your chances. Therefore, I did not. And concerning your other question, if both of your stats are outstanding, they will take both. From what you said, I hope the other guy’s application isn’t next to yours.

can u give an honest chance on UVA then bc that is the school i would probably go to if im accepted. like honest opinion please

You’ve got a decent shot at UVA, your application should be competitive as an OOS. Which IB classes are you taking? Try and write in complete sentences and use punctuation.

I wholeheartedly agree with what canuck said. You are competitive for OOS (i.e. you have a good shot.)

oo ok ill list my courses for all four years:
FRESHMAN- English 2 honors, Precal honors, AP World, Spanish 1 cp(didnt offer honors), Biology honors, Physical Science honors, PE(required)
SOPHOMORE- English 3 honors, AP AB calc, AP stats, AP compsci, Chemistry honors, Gov/econ Honors, Spanish 2 cp(didnt offer honors)
JUNIOR- IB Chem, IB Spanish, AP physics c, AP BC calc, AP US hist, IB Design, AP English
SENIOR- IB Theory of Kno, IB math HL, AP psych, IB english HL, IB spanish SL, AP/IB physics E&M SL, IB design HL

bump1-char

You’ll get in.

bump10char

My best guess

Penn, Berkley, MIT high reach

UVA- decent shot

NYU and Michigan likely in

Agree with rocketplayer, with perhaps a slightly higher likelihood for UVA.

I have never heard of a college limiting kids by high school. Interest from a particular school ebbs and flows from year to year depending on popularity and groups of friends staying together and so forth. At my sons’ school, the peak admission to any one college is much higher than the average who are admitted to that college each year, indicating that there is likely no artificial limit.
