Is a 3.6 GPA from a top school too low?

Do they discriminate against any particular majors?

I also had a 3.6 from HS with a very good SAT. I’m applying for junior standing. Better or worst chance to applying for sophomore standing?

more info would be helpful...like actual school, major, and SAT score.

I'd say a 3.6 GPA is too low if it's from a top public school, but if it's from a more selective private school (Chicago, NU, etc.) then it's very good.

I'd apply for junior standing with your current high school GPA.

I dont understand- How can you have a 3.6 in college when you havn't started college yet? I mean-you're asking whether you have a better chance applying for sophomore standing, meaning you are a rising freshman (ie. you're about to be a freshman)? No?

Maybe he is just speculating what he will get. Or what range he should get within.

no I'm already in college and will be a sophomore in the fall. I'm maintaining a 3.6 GPA in college right now and I also had a 3.6 GPA in hs.

The 3.6 is from Duke. Too low GPA? I have some good personal stuff including an essay but basically 0 activities.

lmao from Duke...no a 3.6 from Duke is like gold.

Focus on your essays and reasons for transferring to Columbia. You've certainly got the stats lined up. I think most ppl that actually do get to transfer into Columbia and other "best of the best" ivies are those that are already at top 20 schools, and Duke is certainly a great place to be for transferring.

^^ not necessarily.

I hope thats not true
