I took 32 units at a community college before graduating. I heard that many colleges won't accept a lot of the units taken before graduation. I've spent 2 years going to college so I could get a jumpstart to college and I was NEVER informed by my High School counselor or community college counselor of this specification. Except for the fact I'm extremely upset finding out about this, I'm wondering if that specification goes for all Universities, and if there is ANY way that community college units taken before graduation can be accepted. Also, I noticed some Universities do not require the high school transcripts be submitted if you've attended a CC for 2 years, does that means that the University would not be aware of the units taken prior to graduation?
Sorry this is so long, I just have so many questions now after the shock of finding out of this.
And thank you to any replies!

The answer is going to be different for different universities and colleges. The courses my son took at our state's flagship public university were accepted at the private university he attends, but only because they never showed up on his high school transcript. Since he had enough high school credits without the college courses, he never actually added the courses to the transcript, so he got no high school credit for them. If he HAD added them to his hs transcript, they would not have counted for college credit.

Every college has its own rules. Some are very restrictive about what they accept, others are far more liberal. I think you should send some e-mails or make some phone calls to colleges and universities you have applied to and ask what they plan to do with your courses, especially if this is an important part of your decision about where to attend college.
