Hi, my brother would like to attend community college in the fall (with the goal of transferring to a four year), but he also wants to apply to Cal State Fullerton for the Spring semester. He is fresh out of high school and has not enrolled anywhere else.

So if he starts classes at his community college in the fall, but gets accepted to CSUF for the Spring, what happens? Will he be rejected because of his status as, technically, a transfer student? Or will he be able to just attend CSUF as a freshman without any credits?

I don't like the idea, it sounds too shady and dishonest and impractical (if he wants to do something like that, why not attend community college in the spring also, so there is no weirdness?), but I want to know how it works, exactly. If you could give me any helpful answers, that would be amazing!!

They look at which classes you've taken, doesn't matter if its one or twenty and then decide if they transfer as credit. If it's a gen ed type class they will most likely.

To say it's shady, dishonest, impractical, or whatever is a bunch of bullcorn. You're trippin!

Let's take these one by one:

Shady: It's an accredited college = not shady
Dishonest: Not even sure where the argument lies with that one
Impractical: The CC is almost always cheaper. So actually you couldn't be more wrong before starting to be right again lol.

CC's are there for convenience and to help out poorer students. Just because you don't get an AA or AS doesn't mean anything. I have 64 hours at a CC and did not graduate! Oh noes! I didn't get to walk across the stage but I still went to graduation and sat in the audience. Was almost the same!

I think I didn't state my problem with this clearly: in California, once you enroll and take classes at a community college, you are considred a transfer student, and you are not allowed to transfer until you complete 60 units.

So, with that in mind, how does the system work? If you decide to take classes at a community college while waiting for an acceptance/rejection letter as a brand new freshman at the same time, what would happen?
