Hi, I am a graduating senior trying to make my decision for college.
So I was wondering if you could attend a 4-year university while living there but take 9-12 credits at the uni and take (3-6) credits online from your local community college.
Thank you for you response
The 4-year will have rules about this, so you’ll have to ask them. The rules typically say that you have to petition to do so in advance, and if you don’t, they may not accept the credits. If it’s a class the university offers itself, you can expect them to say no. Some schools forbid it entirely.
9 units would be considered part time, which would mess with any financial aid you might be getting. Yes, you might be able to clear it up by pointing out the units at the other school, but it will be a hassle every time you do it.
Is this a financial aid question?
I believe you can ONLY receive need based financial aid from a college where you are a matriculated student…and you cannot be a matriculated student at TWO colleges at the same time…unless there is some arrangement.
So…if you are hoping to get financial aid at two colleges…this answer is…no.
If this isn’t a financial aid question…maybe it needs to be moved.
