Are they ever more specific than 1) Pass all your classes with a C and 2) Finish all Pre-reqs required for transfer?

Just do the best you can. Even though they say pass with a C, shoot for an A

I honestly don't know why they say pass with a c or better when they don't accept c students.

Is it true that Berkeley wants you to maintain all B's?

Actually, I just wanted to verify that they ARE usually just asking for all C's; I could not end up not getting a B in one of my classes--that's why i was concerned.

I think you have to maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Although they require at least a C grade, most applicants will surpass that and will apply with A's. This is why they do not accept C students, there is a better alternative, students with A's. The central core of competition!

Yeah, I won't come near to a 3.0, but I have a feeling I'm destined for a C in this particular class.

I remember a guy from one of my classes had to pass a math class with a B or higher...

he was accepted spring semester however so i dont know if that makes a difference. I'm pretty sure that they only accept spring semester transfers with lower gpas so they want to make sure they maintain it...

I was talking about Cal btw...

for schools that ive been accepted to (ucsc, ucsb, uci, ucd) they require 2.7-3.0 gpa with a "C" or higher...

zooie...
that is correct. Once you get your acceptance it has the remaining classes listed and says to maintain a B average for those classes. So you could have a C in one of the classes as long as you have an A that can balance it out. Also they are talking about the average for those specific classes so they don't even factor in your overall GPA for the previous semesters when it comes to not being rescinded. I cut it really close because I had a horrible stats professor and he came to class drunk all the time so I had to learn everything on my own, I was not sure if I was even going to pass the class, I ended up barely getting a C so when I called the Adcom I was assigned to she told me that since the stats class was more units than one of the classes I have to get an A in the other two classes in order to offset it. fortunately I did but I thought for sure my acceptance was in danger of getting rescinded.

"Even though they say pass with a C, shoot for an A"

"I think you have to maintain a 3.0 GPA."

so you can pass all you classes with a c and get a 2.0? or 3.0 or higher with C's or higher on all of your classes?

im really worried about the conditions since i got less than 3.0 last quarter, but all my grades were C's or higher. (for ucb and ucla)

You have to maintain above a 3.0, and get at least a C in all of your current courses.

My concern is specifically about Davis because they ask you to maintain a 2.5 in certain groups of classes. It's possible that I could end up with a 2.0 in one of the groups (two C's). That's why i was wondering if this "get all C's" business will override that.

I have a huge problem regarding this...
So I'm shooting for Cal. I have a feeling I many end up with two C's this semester and I'm really worried that Cal will rescind my app because of it. I plan on getting A's in all my other courses so it may balance out but those two C's just seem so egregious to me.

Depends what major your applying for

Russkiy_Bear: not sure if youre talking to me or AcademicHopeful but my major's music.

duogmeg...if you get accepted to Cal, they will assign you an admissions officer that you can call and ask all types of questions. Make sure that you keep an open line of communication w/ him/her and they will walk you through the rest of this semester. It will all even out and you should be fine.

Major: N.P.B. (Neurobio, Physio, Behavior)

chemical engineering for me.

So does anybody have any insight regarding my situation?
