Im going to have an interview with a cornell alumnus as part of the school of architecture admission process... i would REALLY appreciate ANY advice from anyone who have been through the in-campus or alumnus interview process. What kind of questions should i be expecting? What do they look for the most from the interview? Any recounts from your own interview will help!! Thanks~

hi nimoya, my interview was very relaxed. it's really nothing to worry about i would say, mine was very long but it was a very nice conversation.

she asked me why i wanted to be an architect, what experience i had with the field, favorite hobbies (since i said art, we talked about my favorite artists), favorite local building, and some other general questions. the majority of the time we talked about my "academic journey" and how i eventually ended up at architecture. then we went over my portfolio, and they will give you some advice about that.

in case you werent told, you should /really/ bring your portfolio to it. they wil want to talk about each piece, why you included it, what you were thinking, etc. overall, all i can say is relax, be personable, and be ready to talk about your interests.

^^ agree with above.. my interviewer did EXACTLY (well, pretty much) the same thing..

where have you traveled? why do you want to be an architect? who's your favorite architect?

bring you transcript.. my interviewer asked for one..

thnks everyone! i had my interview today and it was exactly as you guys have said. very conversational and personal.
all i can do now is pray and wait i guess lol. good luck with your admissions too~

haha, mine was the same...funny thing - my interviewer lost my contact sheet so cornell like freaked on me and i was like...dude, the woman lost it!?

oh well...i did much better on my columbia interview and id much rather go to columbia than cornell (even though cornelll's architecture is AMAZING...location would KILL me...literally)
