I recently received my course selection material in the mail and I started checking the COD. It seemed like a lot of introductory courses were filled up already... is this really the case or have they allotted a certain number of spots in each class (or at least the lower-level ones) for incoming first-years?

They saved seats for all of the incoming first years and open a few in every orientation session.

Ah okay. So even if it says something is 30/30 or 90/90 or whatever, that might not actually be the case?

I ask because I'm an Echols scholar and the priority registration seems pretty sweet right about now.

easiest way to gauge actual class size is in the address bar at the top of the browser change it to the previous year (ie from 20073 to 20063) to see what last year's class size was.

Just email the professor and bring a course-action form on the first day. Chances are quite good that way.

So even if you are enrolled in a different class, use of a course action form may allow you to change professors?

I believe there is a space for that on the form, but if not, you can still use the course action form to get into Prof. A's class and drop Prof. B's class on ISIS.
