How many courses/credits per semester does the average person usually take at NYU's CAS?

And about how many courses are in the core curriculum, or required courses?

The usual is 16 credits per semester, but the limit is 18 per semester w/o have to pay extra per credit.
I’m a Stern frosh and I’m taking 18 creds this semester, and plan to do so for every semester after. It is definitely doable. It’s not that bad.
(I do know an upperclassmen that is taking 20 creds, plus he’s an RA, Admission Ambassador, and prob involved in other things. I don’t know how he does it, but he does.)

Check out this link for info on the MAP. If you wind up deciding to apply for a school other than CAS you may possibly be exempt from certain parts of the core. (For instance, Sternies don’t have to fulfill the language requirement)
