Question about courses for an economics pre-major?

I’m a new undergraduate planning on pre-majoring in economics. I was wondering what classes are required for this major (other than calc and econ), like statistics or writing.
When would one be allowed to request admission to full major status (for economics)?
This seems like a dumb question, but do students register for classes every quarter/semester on GOLD?

All the info is on the dept and College of Letters & Science websites. they will also go over it at orientation.

Have you gone/are going to orientation? If so, your academic adviser goes over everything and is SUPER helpful. Otherwise, here is the list of requirements:

If you have any other questions I’d be happy to help as another Econ major who has already been to orientation!

You will need to do well in Econ 1, 2, and Econ 10A. Keep in mind the grades in these classes will be based on the standing of your peers. There is a ranking and only a certain number of students can receive A’s. This means you can receive a 90, but if your ranking is too low you could end up with a B+. Before I graduated, i heard a rumor that this would change soon. I was not an Econ major, but am familiar with the process and have many friends who ended up having to switch majors because they didn’t meet the GPA requirement. Let me know if you have any questions.

@JennaMcKB1 I wasn’t able to make it to orientation; thanks for the link! Would you mind telling me what classes you’re planning on taking (other than Econ 1,2, and 10A), like stat/calc/etc?
