When will we get a course booklet with a description of all the possible courses?

Also, does anyone have information on Philosophy at Duke?

When will we get a course booklet with a description of all the possible courses?

Also, does anyone have information on Philosophy at Duke?

Info on many courses is at:
http://www.aas.duke.edu/reg/synopsis/view.cgi
although the main place to look is:
http://registrar.duke.edu/bulletins/Undergraduate/
combined with the schedule at:
http://www.siss.duke.edu/schedule/1180

If you have your Duke NET ID, you can log into ACES at:
http://www.registrar.duke.edu/registrar/studentpages/studentlinks.html
(top link) and then see the teacher-course evaluations as well.

You won't get one until you get to Duke. All of the scheduled classes on ACES (or for previous semesters) and the synopsis of each is pretty much all of the information that you will get from Duke while your at home. Once your on Duke's network, you will be able to access the course evaluation website. You will probably get a course booklet in the fall as well.

Hey now - the bulletin (link # dos) is the bulletin :)

Yeah, Dr. G pointed you to pretty much everything Duke offers. The course evals website is also helpful, but it's still new so a lot of classes/profs aren't up yet.

Aja - forgot about the evals site - it's at:
http://evals.aas.duke.edu/
but I think you have to have a VPN client to have it accept your NET ID credentials to look at it... That's at:
http://www.oit.duke.edu/remote_access/vpn.html

Ratemyprofessors.com has a LOT of info - much more than the new course evals site. I go there all the time to get info on courses/profs that I'm considering.

One note about ratemyprofessors.com, courseevals, and similar sites:
While they do provide some info on professors, they are by no means completely accurate. In my experience, I have found that those sites mostly attract polemicists, i.e. people who either LOVE or HATE the professor. I have actually had a number of profs who were trashed on those sites but were some of the best professors I have ever had. Take the comments with a grain of salt.

How do we know if we're supposed to taking Writing 20 first or second semester?

Do you think all of the Writing 20s first semester will be full by the third window (... darn the luck)

Almost certainly.

Taking Writing 20 second semester is fine, especially if you take of the 49S freshman seminars first. To be honest, a lot of Writing 20 classes don't help as much in terms of progressing as a writer as you might think.

If you have the 3rd window bet on writing 20s being full. Most of the 49S seminars may be full as well...so look into other courses you might be interested in (ie if you're very proficient at spanish and place into a 100 level class find a spanish seminar...think outside the box). It might be bit more challenging but if you have the 3rd window your options will most likely be limited. I knew a girl stuck with the 3rd window who ended up having to take her seminar AND writing 20 spring semester.

Third window just sucks. Even if you only have it while in the sophomore registration period.

what is this "third window" thing you guys talk about? can someone please explain

I dont have to do the seminar because I'm in Pratt; but i guess it still sucks

For chlor:

Did anyone ever find out if a seminar was required for Pratt people that later on decide to switch to Trinity?

its not, i did it.

will i always have 3rd window (all 4 years) because that would not be cool
