braaap: the schedule doesn't sound too bad. There is a possibility that you would be sick of taking 3 classes in a row 3 days a week but if you can handle that it shouldn't be too bad. Also be sure that none of those classes are lab/rec classes and have separate components that you need to sign up for.

Are you saying many people prefer 2 classes 5 days a week?
I think I am going to end up taking it easy with math 32, psych11, and Spanish 76 on the mwf... But I may do 103 and span101 depending on ap scores. This is all hard without guidance! Thank you all so much

braaap: if you don't have AP credit for econ, I'd strongly advise taking 51 first semester. Replace Spanish, probably. As for scheduling times, people have all sorts of schedules. Everyone has different preferences, but often, schedules will just turn out the way they are because classes that we want/need to take are just scheduled for inconvenient times. You learn to cope, it's not that bad.

nope I'm not saying it's easier to do 2 classes 5 days a week. I'm cautioning against rashly piling on the classes in an effort to have one or two "easy" days. But if you want to, it's perfectly fine. My friends have had more packed schedules and survived.

My preferred schedule for next semester would have been only classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's like a 4 day weekend every week and a day off in the middle of the week... I almost got it too, one of the classes filled up too quickly even though I was first window. :(

Looking back I wonder if it would have been a good idea because I would have had classes from 8:30 to 4 continuously, and I'm pretty sure I would have slept through half of them. So maybe it worked out for the best, but it is nice to think about every once in a while... two day week...

My friend last semester somehow managed to fit all his classes and labs into a block from tuesday to thursday from 9 to 4 and had 4 day weekends every week. I guess doing 3 days of straight classes followed by a 4 day break can be a good thing sometimes.

Next semester I'll have fridays off at the expense of packed mondays and tuesday so we'll see how that turns out.

when you have like three or more classes back to back, you are going to be so tired and sleepy by the time the 3rd or 4th class rolls around (assuming u are going to them all)

and working on assignments on your off days will take a huge chunk of your time and since you don't have class, you will have almost no motivation to get up from bed... so it really could whack around with your studies. Although, I am coming from an engineering perspective... so it could be different..

and also there is a chance you might have three or four midterms in a day... that's not good at all

Plus, you won't want to work on your assignments on the days you have class because you're so drained from going to so many. At least, that's what it would be like with me...I'd tell myself I'll do it tomorrow and never get around to it.

Does anyone know of any good research courses (besides independent study)?

Rresearch courses? ummmm if you are a junior/senior in Pratt you can take a design course. Or you can just find a research job with a professor.

For a Writing 20 class, has anyone taken Arguing for Revolution with Susanne Hall? I'm looking for feedback on both her and the class, but there is nothing listed at ratemyprofessor.com. I would like to take this class just because I enjoy history and my schedule isn't very accomodating.

What do you guys know about Bio 105? I'm gonna probably take that this semester, because I've already taken the equivalent of Math 103...I could retake 103, it's an option.

My schedule is:
Writing 20
Bio 105
Chem 21
German 1

I've heard Bio 105 is incredibly, incredibly boring. If you've taken Math 103, consider Math 104 or Math 107 if you really want to pursue more math (most non-math/science majors don't require past Math 103).

Has anybody taken Math 102 or know somebody that did?

I'm confused... coz I know this guy at Duke (whom I know well coz he's from my hs and he is also a korean) who is a sophomore and he told me that his friends who do econ say math 102 is easy.
But when I went to ratemyprofessor.com or wtvr it's called... the kids who took math 102 with bray (he's the only instructor) complained that it's too hard, and the hw problems never help on exam and yadayadayada...

My roommate took 102 last semester as a sophomore. I saw him studying for it quite often but he said it wasn't hard, so that's probably a good sign.
