I don't know if this questions been answered already but here it is: In the Critical Reading section is it better to read the passage first and answer the questions or read the questions and then look for the answers in the passage without reading it top to bottom? Which is more time efficient or which is better?

Different strategies work for different people. However, I would only recommend looking at the questions first IF you're running out of time by reading the passage first. Usually by going through the passage, you get a better understanding of the questions.

short passages: read questions first, then read passage
long passages: read passage first, then answer questions

Passage Comparison: read Passage 1 first and answer questions pertaining to that passage. Then read passage 2 and do the same thing
Then, answer questions pertaining to both passages.

Read the passages? I was told not to read the passages by Grammatix and that seemed to work for me.

Like gxing said, different ways work for different people. I always read the passages and I got a great score. I have heard people who also did very well say they never read the passages. You should try both strategies and see which works best for you. I, however, cannot see how you could accurately answer questions about something which you did not read.

It is very possible to answer SAT CR questions without reading the passage. In fact, it raised my score. ShadowOfAnEnigma, that's what I thought at first, but decided to give it a try, and it worked!

My CR score is still stuck at 350 with that strategy. But I still have faith in it. Why doesn't the CB book include explanations? I want to know why the correct answer is correct.

Either order th CB Online Course or the TestMasters SOlutions to the Blue Book guide.

which one has better explanations?

I only have the CB Online Course. I think the explanations are clear. I have heard the TestMasters ones are also good. If you want more practice tests and essay grading, then you might as well get the online course. If not, then the book will suffice.
