Question about CSU apps

I noticed they barely ask you what classes you took.

Is there some sort of update where you get to add all your classes/grades?

From what I recall from my daughter’s transfer process last year…

They only ask for a few classes (as you noticed - usually the key 4, including math, english and communications) … and then ask for a SELF-REPORTED GPA.

Based on your self-reported GPA, you will get ranked. You are put in either a “local” bucket (taken from first) or “in-state but not local” (second) and “out of state” (third). Based on your rank within your major and starting with the first bucket, the CSUs start filling up their class spots.

That is the general process – some colleges will ask for transcripts faster than others – some don’t seem to ask for them until after having been accepted.

To show the range of responses – she applied Oct 1. Humbolt gave her an almost immediate acceptance w/o seeing a transcript or updated grades. On the opposite end, Chico was silent most of spring and asked for transcript in late March (!) and then gave her an acceptance about a week later.

So based on our experiences last year, you apply now – and then wait for the college/s to request your transcripts/grades. Some may want them right away, others will leave you hanging. A lot of this depends on how competitive you are (auto admit), if you are local or not (tend to hear quicker), etc.

Be sure to login to the CSU accounts set up by the colleges for transfer applicants checking admission status and updated requests.

I applied to SDSU for the Spring semester back in September and was just admitted. From what I remember they only asked for those core requirements. I didn’t report my GPA correctly - cumulative was different since I had attended prior colleges and didn’t factor those in. I was stressed out about it but when I looked at my info once admitted, I saw that they had reviewed my transcripts and reported the correct GPA for my records. So in my case, they thoroughly reviewed my transcripts. As far as I know I don’t have to report any other classes since I’ve been admitted and they’ve already reviewed my records.
