I'll be applying to college in the fall and I've decided that I want to go in for something communication related. I am possibly looking into UC Los Angeles, UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara (can you tell I'm from California yet?!), UC Santa Cruz, New York University, San Diego State, and Cal Poly SLO (I know there's a lot--it's not for sure yet!) I accomplished the first step--LOOKING INTO SCHOOLS WITH THE MAJOR I WANTED. But now I'm in my second dilemma--

I found out UCLA only accepts junior level applicants, so would I have to go in undeclared in social sciences? Or should I just declare major that is related and then work to get accepted into the program? Which would be better?

Also, on UC Berkeley's website, it tells you the prerequisites for the Media Studies major but it doesn't mention anything about freshmen applicants. Would anyone happen to be able to explain what I would have to do to declare that as my major there?

I'm just so confused on how to apply. If there are any other schools on my list that involve applying to the major LATER after I would get accepted, can anyone point it out and give me some tips? I didn't realize how complicated and weird this would be..
