if you are deferred, is it possible to contact your admissions officer and ask why? last year, one of my friends was deferred from penn and he called the admissions officer, who told him that his weakness was his SAT scores.

stupefy, haha you won’t get deferred!! and i actually have never heard anyone calling admissions from my school, but then again, i don’t know much either.

I don’t know how honest of an answer you’d get from Yale if you asked. After all, they could be potentially open to lawsuits if they said "your son was great and everything but he wasnt from the right race/state/socioeconomic group. Maybe I’m wrong but just my 2 cents here.

ask your school counsellor to do it for you. if you come from a school that yale knows well enough and trusts your counsellor, the admissions committee will be more likely to tell them.

^ Stupefy, Peeps like you are soooo annoying! JK JK, How could you possibly get deferred??? I would kill to have your 2390!!! I think it would be a great idea to contact the adcoms, but like Rtgrove said they probably wouldn’t give you a straight answer since your stats/ ECs are obviously good enough, your recs were probably good, so they would probably respond with something about your essays or anything else more subjective. If you get deferred there is no chance for anyone on CC!

I didn’t ask why I got deferred, but I did contact her to tell her that Yale was still my first choice and I would definitely attend if I got in RD. Something must have worked, because I did. :)
