question about "demonstrating interest"

So Emory is my top choice and I've heard that since they demonstrate Tufts syndrome a bit, they appreciate it if you demonstrate interest. I'm going to a summer program for 3 weeks at Emory this summer -- would they consider that demonstrating interest? I live in Ohio so I'm not going to fly back in the fall and visit again when I've already seen the campus.

Also, a few weeks ago, I ordered this free DVD that was sort of a virtual tour and I got a letter from the dean of admissions saying they were glad I showed interest in Emory and would I like to schedule a tour. Like I said before, I'm not going to be able to schedule a tour. Would it be a good thing if I emailed the dean back and actually told her that while I won't be taking a tour, I will be living at the school for 3 weeks and so on?

Any advice would be appreciated.

yes, attending a emory program will help. In addition to the DVD, check to see if the Emory rep will visit your neighborhood this summer/fall, bcos that also counts as “interest.” No need to respond to the Dean’s marketing letter. Just make sure you sign up and take an official tour while on campus.

Contact your regional admissions officer and let them know your situation, maybe even stop in office during your stay and say hello. You have 3 weeks to show them your interest, take full advantage of your time there. Email a professor in your intended major, maybe they are teaching summer school and you can stop by and introduce yourself during office hours.
