I have a quick question about the DODMERB. When should I recieve this piece of paperwork. Beginning of junior year or later? I was told that the DODMERB was sent in before you did the PCQ. I would just like some clarification because I am really confused. Thank you!

I got my paperwork around July of last year... a few weeks before my senior year started. I took care of my exams during the last week of July and I heard back from them around mid-August. And I got officially cleared and everything by early September.

Sure. Umm.. around early July, I got a postcard from DODMERB saying that they were going to send me paperwork and stuff. So a couple weeks later, I got a letter saying that I have to get a complete physical evaluation (with urinalysis, depth-perception test, etc.) and an eye exam. In the paperwork that they give you, there's a huge questionnaire. It asks questions like "Do you get motion sickness?" or "Do you have anemia?" You know, general questions about your medical history.
And there's a section where you have to write down an explanation for each question that you checked "yes." I had to explain surgery I received when I was 5.
And there's a little card you fill out with the date of your physical and eye exam and you return it to USAFA. After your exams, you turn in all of the paperwork and you can check your status online (It won't show up for a while... DODMERB will be one fun field trip for you). I don't remember the website (even though it was only 10 months ago, the process was so long that I get flustered and I can't remember things lol) but you can see if you're Potential Pilot Qualified or Potential Navigator Qualified. You should also get a letter in the mail several weeks after your exams telling you if you have any disqualifications. If you do, you should try to get a waiver.

If I didn't answer your question fully, just ask away.

so you got it during your junior year or senior year? I was told that my PCQ was my application for the Summer Seminar and it was supposed to be turned in in December and I was told before I get my PCQ I had to complete the DODMERB. Is that correct?

I got it a few weeks before my senior year. Senior year is when it all happens.

I think the PCQ is something that you send in so that USAFA can decide if you're competitive enough for the actual application process. If you applied for SS and got in, then you shouldn't worry about the PCQ. They'll send the application package to you because you're in their tracking system. The DODMERB stuff happens with the actual application process.

PCQ is online and you do it yourself during the spring of your junior year. DoDMERB sends you stuff and tells you to schedule your appointments, I received mine in July and had the exams on July 25th. It took a while for my results to come through but I was officially qualified around 1 Sept. The actual application was sent to me in August or around that time.

If you applied to Summer Seminar (also online), don't do a PCQ.

I called the admissions office and they said i fill out my PCQ in December of my junior year so it will count as my application for the summer seminar.

"I called the admissions office and they said i fill out my PCQ in December of my junior year so it will count as my application for the summer seminar."

Yeah you can do that. Then, since your name is in their tracking system, they'll immediately start sending you DODMERB paperwork in July and the actual application then, too.

I may have misunderstood, but just to be clear, completing a PCQ does not count as an application for Summer Seminar. However, an application to Summer Seminar does double as your PCQ.

Bottom line ... if you are applying to Summer Seminar, do not complete a PCQ. If you apply to Summer Seminar, that application doubles as your PCQ.

Is that clear, or did I just muddy the waters more?
