Question about dorm life

I'm a guy, and i lived in the dorms for the past 2 years. I generally liked to keep my room cold, and the hallways and common areas weren't much warmer. So because of that, i liked to wear my bathrobe and slippers around the dorm buildings. In my time there, i saw only one other guy use a robe, lots of girls wearing them for showers, and only 1 girl wearing a robe outside of her hallway.

To me, a bathrobe was a perfect thing to wear, comfy and warm, and i didn't have a problem wearing mine where ever and being seen wearing it.

What's the problem with being seen in a robe? If you had one in college, did you ever wear it around the building like to the dining hall or common areas? Would you laugh if you saw a guy like me walking around at night or in the morning with a fuzzy robe and ridiculous slippers?

I just think robes and slippers are not popular with people our age, that’s all. So yeah, it’s only weird because not a lot of people own/wear them.

If you want to wear a robe, wear a robe.
If you want to wear wooden yellow clogs to class, do it.

Don’t allow other people’s thoughts about you influence what you want to do. If someone thinks you’re ridiculous because you’re rocking the Snuggie or a Wearable Towel, or better yet, use Comfort Wipe [YouTube - Comfort Wipe Commercial](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crfGXmxJ1vM)
then they’re probably not people you want to hang out with anyway and might be less than mature.

I spent awhile in a dorm and can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone go “Ew, dude’s in a fluffy robe. Let’s ostracize him!”

The one thing I’ve learned is that people aren’t thinking about you as much as you think they are. Do what you want.

It would probably be a tad unusual (simply for that reason… it isn’t “usual”), but I don’t think anyone would berate you for it.

Hell, people might even be jealous of the fact that you’re constantly comfy. You may even start a trend? lol

Oh it definitely wouldn’t ever stop me from wearing one. It just seems to me like a robe is something that alot of people don’t wanna be seen in. But people in dorms always complain that it’s too cold, a robe and slippers are perfect solutions for that!

robes are pretentious.

I can kinda see that, but i don’t think being pretentious would be a reason that someone wouldn’t wear a robe. I think alot of people are just embarrassed to be seen wearing a bathrobe around, especially guys. Personally, i felt that a little at first, because i got some stares and people (especially girls) would compliment me and say something like “nice robe” or whatever. After like a week i wasn’t embarrassed to be seen in it at all anymore
