hey how does the rooming work for UC's. Cuz my friend and I might be attending the same college and it would be chill if we could room together.

I'm sure you can both request to room with each other, and they will put you together.

but rooming together probably isn't a good idea. I've seen lots of friendships ruined when HS buddies decided to room together. If you do a search on this board you can find this has been discussed plenty of times before.

if you both request each other, you will most likely get a dorm together. also take note of mikemac's advice though. i do know some people who are rooming with their h/s friend and like it, but some who have totally changed and the roommate dynamic is just... different than expected.

Rooming with my friend from high school worked beautifully for me. I had a random roommate my first year and it was a disaster. Just make sure to lay down ground rules and stick to them.

The UC's are known for being somewhat competitive. So make sure that both you and your roommate have studying/schoolwork as your main priority. I don't believe that all high school friendships will be ruined if you room together. Just decide beforehand that if arguments arise it's only because it's a natural part of living together. There's a high chance you'll get to room together if you request each other, AND list your housing preferences in the same order.

Best of luck.
