<p>I wanted to work somewhere that had a mission that I cared about and goals that were not about the bottom line profit. Non-profit organizations (not companies) do not make profits and generally have some kind of a mission that their work supports – examples are the Red Cross, animal shelters, most hospitals, museums, schools, etc. I’m not saying you should want to work at a non-profit, just that Idealist is a really useful job database if you do but not if you don’t.</p>
