Question about Dual Programs, Help please!

If I apply to the Jerome Fisher M&T Program early decision and get rejected, but I still checked the box for considering me for Wharton ED, would Wharton look at me with a blank slate or would they look at me as someone who had been rejected by the dual program already?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to apply to Jerome Fisher & Wharton or just Wharton. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If I recall correctly from the campus tour, yes.
If you apply to any of the dual degree programs but are rejected from them, you are still considered for each of the separate schools (so wharton and school of engineering). Of course, this doesn’t guarantee you have a better shot of getting in, but it’s a nice plus.

but having been rejected by Jerome Fisher, would that put me in a worse position in regards to getting in to Wharton?

i would like to know as well

If student A is denied admission to M&T based on stats XYZ than the probability of stats XYZ being enough for admission to Wharton is low. I think that’s all there is. I don’t think they would have any actual prejudice.

Yes. They will not accept you. Sorry

It won’t technically be a blank slate in the sense that it’s probably the same admissions committee members evaluating you. However, not getting into M&T doesn’t hurt/change your chances of getting into Wharton, which I believe is what you’re trying to ask.

You can think of M&T as like an “honors” program that lots of schools have, the difference being that you have to actually ask to be in this program. Out of all the acceptances, the top few will be invited. However, not getting into the program doesn’t change your overall chance of acceptance.

One of my roommates applied to M&T ED with Wharton as a second choice. Got in to Wharton but not M&T, so it can definitely happen.
