Question about Duke and SAT II's

Duke's policy is that they require two SAT II's of your choice. I have heard that many schools are interested in seeing just those SAT II's and will at many times not view your others. Is this true for Duke, will they just look at my top 2 SAT II scores. The reason i am asking is cuz I took World History as a sophomore and got a 610 which was a poor score... I took BIO and US history and i think i did pretty good and I rather not have Duke judged be based on that world history score from 10th grade...

You send all of them to Duke, however there are blanks on the application to write in the scores (if I remember). Whether Duke uses the other scores remains a mystery as far as I know.

Will they see your scores? Yes. Will it make any difference to them? No way to tell. Will the fact that you gave it in 10th grade(ie, a long time ago) help? I think so.

What is done is done.

If you feel that your test score is a real blight on your application, just take the world sat II test again (study this time) and earn a better score. Not sure if scores are replaced on SAT IIs, but showing Duke that you can do better can only benefit your application.

No, taking a test again will not replace a score on the score report, I think what happens is that you have two entries for the same test but different test dates and scores. That said, there's no reason not to take a test again if you feel you could do much better and that it'll benefit you on the application. As far as I know, Duke will look at the two tests that you listed on the application and you are allowed to list them even if you don't have scores yet, as long as you give a test date whose score report date is after the application deadline.

i got 660s on us history and physics (bad day), but a 690 chem, 710 on bio and an 800 on math iic. i submitted them all but only wrote in the last two in the designated sat ii portion of my app. i got in.

yeah all you need is two, but they'll probably look @ the other ones anyways if youtook them

for SAT I, will Duke take the highest composite score or one sitting?
