Question about Early action vs. Regular

My top pick is Binghamton so I am planning to apply early action there (ED is too binding for me). Would it be a good idea to just apply to Bing?--and if I get deferred then apply to the other schools on my list for regular? My thinking is that it would be a HUGE money saver, esp if I get accepted into Bing for EA. Also, would it be worth my while to apply to all schools with early action? Or, should I just limit it to Bing?

If you’re not going to apply anywhere else should you get into Binghamton, you might as well apply ED.

You probably want to find data from the other schools you’re considering as to the acceptance percentages EA vs those for RD. If there’s a significant advantage to EA, it’s probably worth the money.

The other advantage to EA is that so long as somewhere by the EA result day you can relax quite a bit, as opposed to having to wait till March for your first acceptance. It takes a lot of pressure off.

Yes, you can wait to apply. However, be sure that you have your other applications ready to go so that if you get deferred or rejected at Binghamton, you don’t have to start writing applications while you’re still reeling from the results. Your applications, written in that situation, won’t be good.

You don’t have to spend the money needlessly, but you will have strong applications ready to go.

thanks very much!!!
