I know it is very rare, and that it would almost certainly not happen to me, but if your financial aid package is bad enough that you need to be released from the early decision agreement, will this happen quickly enough for you to apply regular decision to other schools? I only ask b/c my parents asked me and I didn't know the answer. Not really a major concern since I know Cornell's aid is generally outstanding, but would still like to put myself and my parents at ease. In the extreme case that this would actually happen, I wouldn't want to be stuck in a situation where I couldn't go to ANY college.

Your question is actually irrelevant (if that’s the right word here); at the same time you apply ED to Cornell you can apply RD to any number of schools (although there’s generally no advantage in sending RD apps earlier than necessary). If Cornell accepts you ED and you accept their FA offer (they’ll give you enough time to decide), then you must withdraw all your RD apps from the other schools.
