Hi this is probably a dumb question to some but living in the midwest this isn't made completely clear to me. If I am applying to east coast schools, do I have to take the SAT subject tests for most schools, even if they accept ACT? I'm sure it obviously relies on the type of school, but in general school schools along the lines of NYU. Thanks!!

Here’s a thread from last year, but things change, so you ALWAYS need to double check the websites of the schools you are interested in to find out their current requirements. Also, there’s a similar thread on the next page of this forum, use the search function and you will find out a lot of answers to common questions. Good luck.

No. East Coast schools do not give any more weight to SAT I & II than they do to the ACT, if they accept it in lieu of both SAT I and II. If they did, they would say so. It’s their game and they make the rules; why would they lie about it?

look up each specific school. most accept the ACT alone and dont look down on it

Nowhere in the OPs question do they imply that east coast schools look down on or lie about how they consider ACT scores. The OP is merely asking if they need to take some subject tests along with their ACT for some schools–which they do. Given that this is a first time poster, how about sticking to the question asked without reading in more than is there?
