Question about Econ51 and Major

I'm currently a freshmen planning on majoring in economics. I did not take Econ51 this semester and was planning on taking it 2nd semester. However, I'm planning on rushing next semester and do not think I can handle econ51 and rushing at the same time. Would I be alright if I took 51 fall semester of my sophmore year? Would I be able to fulfill all the reqs easily if I start the sequence only in my soph year?

I think it's possible.
However, I don't think you can do it without doubling up (105D and 110D).

However, something to think about.. how badly do you want to major in economics?
If you think that rushing and pledging are going to get in the way of economics. This means that your interest in the subject isn't incredibly strong. However, if you are genuinely interested in the material- you can do both. :)

Back when I took that class, it was called Econ 1 and it was almost all freshmen. I wouldn't really recommend starting late, especially since you might start to hate econ and decide to major in something else. It's hard to tell from just the first class, but Econ 55 is very different (much harder and more theoretical with math) and you might not like it at all. By that point you would be done with 2 years and still not have a clear major. It's better to try Econ 51 out now and then have more options later - you will probably want that flexibility if your inteerests start to change. Also, I didn't think the class was that hard or time-consuming. It was mostly multiple choice tests straight from the textbook with a few short answer problems (it could be different now). There were also no problem sets or written work (also could be different now).
