Question about ED-FA

Does anyone know whether JHU considers all ED applicants (who apply for financial assistance) for financial aid or do they only consider those they have accepted? Thanks.

i'm confused on what you're trying to ask...but finan aid is independent from admission process unless u r international to my understanding

well they don't offer financial aid to people who aren't admitted...

i think sara28 is asking if you are deferred, are you still considered for financial aid, am i right? Well if you are deferred, you will be reconsidered in the RD round and will be considered for financial aid then.

i think what sara28 is asking is whether or not admissions looks at the financial aid package of those in the "not accepted pile". Would they even look at financial aid if you aren't a candidate for acceptance?

Acinom- that's exactly what my question was. Sorry for confusing anyone. I actually found out the answer, if anyone wants to know. Since Admissions and Financial Aid are seperate, Financial Aid processes all applicants who apply for aid, even though they don't know who's going to be admitted/rejected.

just curious sara28, where did you find that out? you really think FA would waste their time processing everyone's package?

The processes are simple and SEPARATE.

(1) All Admissions materials go to the Admissions office and are reviewed by the Admissions counselors/committee and they decide Admissions decisions.

(2) All Financial Aid materials go to the Financial Aid office and are processed by the Financial Aid staff. Processed does not mean a financial aid package is created, it just means all the financial aid documentation is stored.

(3) Once Admissions makes their admit decisions (with no sense of a student's financial need) we report to the Financial Aid office those students we have selected for admission.

(4) Financial aid then create financial aid packages for those students selected to be admits and who applied for aid.

(5) Admissions decision letters are run -- financial aid decisions and packages are run ... and both are stuffed in the admit packets.
