<p>Okay, so I am applying to Princeton SCEA as a Chem and Bio Engineering major. I have several ECs related to science, am engaged in cancer and water chemistry research, and have taken AP Chem, Bio, Physics, Environmental, and Calculus BC. All of this is evident on my Common App. However, the other main part of my life is dance. I spend my life dancing and it's something that I love more than I can ever say. Is it necessary to focus all of my essays on science to show my dedication to that major? Or is it okay to write one essay entirely about dance, one essay sort of relating dance and science, as well as the engineering essay? I'm worried about it seeming like I am not dedicated to the sciences...advice please???</p>
<p>Im applying to bio and chemical engineering as well! I wouldn’t focus all your essays on just science; it would be difficult for the admissions officer to see you as a real-life high school student. Try to come alive in your essays! I would focus on engineering and science for the engineering essay, but for the other essays, I think it will be okay to diverge from science. It wouldn’t make you seem disinterested or no dedicated to science. You’ll seem more real and being passionate about dance is definitely something that they would like to know about as well.</p>

<p>derivative22-An application should bring out different aspects of your personality.You are already going to write on the sciences in your engineering essay.
The other essays you should use to create a picture about yourself which brings YOU out in the admission officer’s eyes as he/she reads it.How can you show your personality.Do not keep repeating the same EC and interests as this is redundant.My son is also crazy about dancing and is a Chem E major(as of now)and that is what he talked about too. In fact he sent a little two minute recording also.He is now a freshman at Princeton .Hope that helps.Best of luck!!</p>

<p>Absolutely agree with the other posters. Let one essay carry your science focus and the other the passion for dance. FYI you do not need to know what kind of engineering you are interested in until much later but it is worth it to have a focus on your essays that will show the thought process you’ve been in. <p>A relative of mine was admitted ED at Princeton (recent grad). She was an interesting candidate in general, but she felt that her passion for dance was what made her stand out. ACs usually like to see students have a passion for SOMETHING. They know that if you can be passionate, it will translate into your academics as well</p>
