Question about engineering?

I know that there is an engineering major in the CALS school, environmental and biological I think. Since I am from NY, I was wondering if I could enroll there for a year or two, and then switch back to the school of engineering and pick a different major? (if freshman and maybe some sophmore engineering classes are the same?)

= = why would you want to do that?

If you are going to do the biological and environmental engineering in CALS then you would do exactly as you say. The major automatically transfers you from CALS to coe and I think the tuition is still the same since you'll be affiliated with CALS all four years.

However, if you pick a different major, you have to do that by sophomore year because you affiliate in coe by the end of sophomore year. I think that if you really want to do a different major then you should only be in CALS for freshman year and then transfer out sophomore year.

You could try that. I know a few people who started as biological engineers in CALS and decided to change, but then you only have the benefit of one year in CALS and have to deal with the transfer process, so you have to think about all the pros/cons.

I was only thinking of doing it because I am not getting any aid, and 14 thousand is a lot of money I can save by just transferring within cornell. Are all of the classes one would take for both the same?
