First of all, I would like to make it clear that I have no intentions of using an essay writing service.

I'm here to ask what colleges do to counter such services. Just by browsing the internet, I have found lots of essay writing services. Wouldn't this be unfair to applicants who write their own essay? I mean, the students with essay writing services have essay written in a high level.

I know that writing an essay requires a lot of time and effort and I find it unfair that some students might be using services online for an entire essay written.

have anybody here known anybody whose used such services and actually make it into the college of their choice through cheating?

You're damn right it's unfair, but what exactly can you do, I mean it's damn unethical and gives kids advantages that otherwise shouldn't be had but hmmm...

I ask this because I notice that a number of CC sponsors along with ads are custom essay writing services. Is CC telling us to cheat if we have to?

Oh lol, don't know if they would suggest going so far though the clues are out there, but hmmm, I just think it's pretty sad if you need someone to write an essay for you, and if they're caught they're pretty much blacklisted so I don't know why you would take such a chance, but hmmm.

:) kinda hard to use your english teacher when you attend a weak pub school with teachers who give A+ on essay to students who did their 2 page essay over the lunch break.

fizik: well I would think that the majority of the student population isn't as good of a writer as the hired professionals. although some might be. to be honest, I'm not a good writer myself.

tony: haha how did he do on his editing job. one time my english teacher took off 3 points from my essay and said "verb tense is inconsistent" when my paper only had 2 errors. He ended up editing my essay to the point where half the essay was in the present tense and half was in past test. He gave me back 2 points after i talked with him.

did you know that there are also college admission coaches. Students can hire people to look over their application and tweek it. Like edit ECs to make them sound better. And edit student essays. Some people from my hs used them. I just think its kinda sad

I consider myself to be a pretty strong writer (English has always been my best subject), but I can't help but be swayed by EssayEdge.com's glowing tesitmonials (i.e. a student credits the essays as a major factor in his admission to USC (my dream school) due to his lower GPA (similar situation to myself)). I'm sure I'd be OK on my own, but for 99$ I'm really considering giving it that one final push in the right direction.

Does anyone think essay editing services are cheating? They seem to only offer ideas to strengthen it... you'd still be doing most of the work, wouldn't you?
