I'm a junior who is interested in applying to UVA next year. For my english class, I will be writing a college essay as assignment. We are supposed to pick an essay topic from the application of one of the schools we are interested in.
So my question is, do the UVA essay questions change from year to year, or would I be ok using one of this years essays as my topic?

If anyone knows the answer I would appreciate the help!!

Oh, I'd careful with this one swoopes2, from what I've heard, UVA will go to the Common Application next year. So you'll want to look at the common app's essays. They were fairly generic from what I remember, like "How were you a leader in H.S., give us some examples, and where that might take you in your college career". Obviously not verbatim, I don't have that in front of me right now, but that's sort of what I remember. With the common app., you'll fill out the "common" element of it that is sent to all the schools you apply to. Then they have an individual "Secondary" application that asks a lot of the same ?'s>>name, SS#, etc.
but there will often be an essay in there that asks something like "what are you passionate about" or "why do you want to come to our school".....So, I'd probably look at the common app. first for essay ?'s, I think these repeat year after year, but can't swear by that.

UVa is switching to the Common App beginning next year. However, they'll continue using their own essays. They expect to have next year’s application ready in July.

I'm actually working on the data catalog for the supplement right now. The essays are no secret, as they pretty much stay the same. We'll keep #3 and #4. #5, which used to be an open question, is now going to be the required essay that's on the Common Application.
