I'm doing this essay for a university scholarship (close enough), and i can't seem to cut down on words for the long essay. the limit is 800 and i'm at 1100...

See the problem is, i have 2 main areas of interest, and theres like 7 or 8 things that are all, pretty equal, in importance.. so i'm not sure what i should do. Cut down examples all together, or simply describe each one less?

help

If you feel that it would take away from the description of each of the areas you feel passionately about, don't take more words out. It will be to your advantage to just take out one area all together. It is better to cover a few things in depth than many things vaguely.

oops actually, i got the wrong one, its a 300 word max essay and i got 470 right now..

so i guess this isn't that much of a gap. at what cut off word count will the reader not notice the limit?

I think that's fine unless the directions are really adamant that you stick to the limit. Usually going 100-200 words over is ok.

k thx for responses. i'm probably gonna have my counselor check over it before mailing it.
