Question about extra units, transferring

Okay, so I have a question but it's kind of hard to explain. I'd really appreciate some answers.

The college I want to transfer to (SFSU) says that you can only do a major and a minor if they can be completed within 120 units. I have 60 units right now and an AA from my CC, but I have to wait a year before I can transfer, so I was planning on taking some extra courses in the mean time. At SFSU, my major is 39 units and my minor is 22; 61 units total. Right there that's a total of 121 units when added to my transferable CC units. I wanted to take three more courses (9 units) at my CC this fall, and then probably take spring semester off before transferring next fall. So that would amount to 69 units when I transfer, with 9 lower division units applying to my major and 3 to my minor, if that matters for anything.

So, I guess my main question is - would it be a bad idea to add on extra units from my community college over the next year? Could it actually prevent me from being able to complete a minor at SF?

You need to pay a visit to SFSU, and talk with the counselors about your specific situation. They will be able to tell you what your options are.

Last time I went to SFSU and talked to a transfer counselor, she was annoyingly vague and didn’t really inform me about anything I wanted to know. It was almost as if my question at the time was too specific for her to take the time to answer. I could try again for this question, but I haven’t had much success getting advice from people at SFSU, hence the reason I came to the forum to see if anyone had a similar experience.
