During my freshmen and sophmore year, I participated in very little outside of school. Though I have a good explanation for this, is it too late for me if I start this year? (assuming I'm aiming for an Ivy League). Can an extra effort in my junior year make up for this?

well, once again the miraccle question... if you do EC's to impress a school it shows..

do what YOU want... joining 5 million clubs wont impress them.. Do what suits your persoonbality.

For example, if you are a supporter of the war in iraq (EXAMPLE ONLY) and you show so in your essay and then join the 'Anti-war' club, you may as well dig your grave now..

I reiterate clearly, follow your interests.. FORGET about the Ivy League... rmember, colleges want YOU not some image of you you want to project

Lastly, if we did say it was too late and wouldnt help your admissions.. thats not a reason to not do anything...
