there's this one girl at school who proclaims that she already got into cornell. supposedly, she missed something in her financial aid package and then they contacted her for it. and according to her, cornell would not process your financial aid package until you've been accepted, so she thinks that she's been accepted. does anyone know if this is true?
it sounds relatively possible because it's only the people who get accepted who get a package.

From what I know, financial aid and admissions are completely separate, so they are going through the stuff in the financial aid office without knowing whether those students are accepted or not. They would contact a student with missing things regardless of whether or not they are accepted. I was deferred from Yale and got a letter about some financial aid thing at the end of January, and obviously I hadn't been accepted yet.

To echo what was said above, the financial aid department and the admissions department are two separate and independent offices.

The financial aid dept goes through all financial aid applications without input from the admissions department, and vice a versa.

And apparently, the FA office is six weeks behind on all their stuff... so they told me.

It would be really sad if decisions came around and that girl was not accepted.... Just saying.
