How do so many 09’ers already have hundreds of friends on facebook at Brown?

A lot.

Which is absolutely pointless. I have 4. I've rejected almost everyone who has solicited me because, well, I don't know them, and can't know if I'll actually want to friend them until I see them in person (or at least talk to them on AIM).

How do you all already have facebook accounts at all? Are the '09ers' Brown e-mail addresses already up and running? I don't remember having gotten mine until the end of August before my freshman year...

We got account numbers off the tuition bills that came.

100+ is a lot. I'll only accept people who I don't know if they have similar interests/movies/music/etc...

I have 21.

I have 15. I think I know maybe 7 of them? I basically accept anyone, just because I'm too lazy to check their profile's first, but I really don't see the point. No one is going to look at a profile and be like "WOW! You know 156 people at Brown already! You must be awesome!" No, they will just assume that you friend everyone you ever came across and wonder why.

Yea, I agree. I have 20 friends, and I know about 15 of them from home or ADOCH. The other 5 are people I've talked to online a bit. I think it's stupid to befriend 300 people because, frankly, you're just not friends yet.

Hey Rabo, I just noticed in your profile you're a barista. That's spiffy, how do you like it?

Best job for a high school student, IMO. Pay could be better, but it's not boring, it's something you can take pride in, and it's a great atmosphere. Don't you work at Starbucks?

i've only actively friended people who i actually know, but i've also confirmed anyone who has solicited my friendship because god forbid if i reject them and they turn out to be the coolest kid in the freshman class.
