Will the FAFSA/CSS forms and profiles ever be viewed or compared with the actual applications to the colleges we applied to? If we made a mistake or anything on either application, would a "cross-reference" be severe in terms of how they would view it?

Anyone have at least an idea?

If you made a big mistake to either and are aware of it then you should tell them rather then let them find it. Otherwise they may think you are being dishonest which would be a bad thing.

If you make a mistake like putting the different social security numbers on you application vs your financial aid applications, your financial aid application will not be processed properly.

Not having your financial aid processed is pretty severe, in my opinion.

You know…I gotta ask…why do you need to know the answer to this? Just be very careful to put accurate and consistent information on all of your applications (admissions and finaid) and it won’t be an issue at all.

I do not know in what context you are asking the question but my advice is this; make it your business that all of the information is correct.

The majority of the schools in the country are not need blind. This means that your ability to pay will be a factor in the admissions process. It could very well be possible that the school will look at your financial aid information.

Remember, misrepresentation (even on your financial aid forms) can be grounds to have your admission rescinded or have you expelled from school (if you are attending). In addition, you may be liable for paying back all financial aid given to you by the school as well as hefty fines and possilbe jail time from the federal gov’t.

Can you provide more detail on the question at hand?

I had a paid internship with my dad’s company, but since my dad was the one paying me, he just directly transfered the payment into a seperate college fund (so I was indirectly paid unlike others). So, on the aid forms, I filled out under “Student financial Information” $0 direct compensation and that I filed no taxes (I assumed my dad’s company took care of it). Would this be something I may have to explain or will they understand that this internship stipend was uniquely paid?

Anyone else?

Frankly, you had no income and you should not list any.

All right, that’s what I thought and did. The question arises because I listed the internship for work experience, so I was wondering if listing no income (direct income) will be viewed as a discrepency; will it be?

Or, is this just a big non-issue…?

Probably a non-issue…there are paid and unpaid internships out there. Doubt anyone would pull that out and ask you a question about it. If it is ever questioned just be truthful.
