I submitted the FAFSA to 10 schools, and after those were confirmed I had to override the original ones to add new schools (I applied to more than 10).
If I have just updated the FAFSA with new tax information, do I have to re-add the original 10 in order for them to see the correction? And if so, should I wait to be sure that the few I have listed right now received the change, or will they be able to see it regardless of whether or not I remove them now?
Log into your FAFSA, and when it asks you to enter a transaction number, enter #1. #1 is the one that had the original 10. If you didn’t enter a transaction number when you updated the FAFSA with the new info, you updated #2. When you pull up #1, you should see the original info & the original 10 schools. Update the tax info & submit that.
If you need to do additional updates later, or if a school asks you to do the IRS Data Retrieval (assuming you entered the tax info manually, not via IRS DRT), you will need to do that with the correct transaction … which will be #4 for the original 10 schools and #3 for the second set of schools.
