question about fee waiver

If I use a fee waiver for my college apps, will I have to send all my apps by paper or can do my app online and send my waiver by mail?

I am pretty sure you can submit them online and send the fee waiver in the mail. However, I'm not positive, so consider this a bump.

some schools like northwestern do it online (they give u a code, or they let u send the signature page by mail). i did all my apps but one (northwestern's) by paper, tho, so i can't speak for schools in general.

where can you get a fee waiver? from the college itself or from your school or both?

If you do it online, im pretty sure that u can send a fee waiver by mail.

What's the purpose of a fee waiver (other than to waive the fee). Do they grant it for financial reasons, or if you're sending applications to so many colleges it's ridiculous?

tropicalisland, i believe the fee waiver has to be obtained through college board. SO I am pretty sure that your school has to have it. However, I think most colleges have a separate application. For example, since I am planning for Cornell, and I went to their site, I found that they have a separate fee waiver form to mail to them. I think it just depends on the college. so look them up online! ^^

Fee waiver = the cost of applying is a financial difficulty on your family, so you don't have to pay it. Some schools will grant them to basically whoever that asks, others require that your family make less than a certain amount. Usually you can just have your guidance couselor write a letter, and you can mail it along with your app.

If you do the app online, you can certainly still mail the waiver by regular mail.
