I was browsing student reviews of NYU when I came across a post that mentioned that "Freshmen normally get the best financial aid packages, to attract students I suppose."
NYU - New York University - Epinions.com
I know that NYU is notorious for not so generous aid offers, but can an NYU student dispel the above claim? If we receive x amount for a university scholarship during our freshmen year, is there a risk of not seeing the same amount of money from NYU our second, third, and fourth years?

I've heard scholarships are guaranteed all four years, as long as your grades keep up. Are they talking about more about the grants?

I'll let you know in June (when current students get their FA package for next year) if they changed anything.

I am assuming the scholarship is for all 4 years, they told me so when I called them last year.

My EFC is actually a few hundred less for next year. I don't expect any more aid. I do expect to be paying more than my EFC. Tuition will be higher and even if my son gets a cheap dorm next year it will be more (about 2K) than his rubin room is.

The thing I'm really hoping is that he will still get a perkins loan no less than he did this year (2400). I know the stafford for sophomores is 1K more than for freshman.

the bottom line, even if his scholarship is the same (and it has to be if he is to continue at NYU), I will be paying more out of pocket than this year. I understood that going into this.
