Question about finanical aid(Problem)....

I have recently run into a huge dilemma. Im at a CC right now, but My EFC for the 2006-07 year is 06214 along with my brother and my sister. Both whom will also be attending college this year. My problem is that there is no way that my parents can afford to pay 18k+ a year on college.

Im going to be serious. Both are my parents credit is bad. And they both are in huge debt. So loans are pretty much out of the question. What should i do or what can i do? Should i just say to myself that college is just unaffordable and out of question?

$6200 isn't really that much. Get a part time job and you'll easily cover that and more.

The thing about it is....Yea 0620 isnt really much, but im really not getting any financial aid..

Like tak for instance they give me a grant for 5,000, Work Study fr 2250, Stafford Sub. for 2625 and then they give me the Plus for 16254. Thats where i'm having trouble at. Like i said, my parents have poor credit and are in debt, so that 16254 is out of the question.

Without help from your parents you're going to have to put in 2 years at the CC and then transfer to the 18K a year college. If they give you 5K a year in grants you'll be lucky. Add the sub stafford to that, I think it's 5500 for a third year student and try for a 2K Perkins. With 2K work study you'll have to get a private loan for the rest. It's a tough road but it can be done. You'd come out owing about 25K, which unfortunately is getting to be pretty common. You might also try a less expensive college, in most states the lower level states are in the 10 to 12K range. Option 3 is stay home and commute to the local state u.
