I'm applying to a handful of private schools and I had a question concerning my parents' educational status.
They attended university in Argentina and recieved masters' degrees. We immigrated here about 10 years ago and now I was wondering about the limitations of first-generation. That is, do I count as a first-generation student for an institution in the U.S. if my parents did not attend a university in the U.S.?
By the way, my mom was a doctor, but she would have had to learn English and reobtain her credentials in order to continue the career she had in South America. That was part of the reason behind my asking this question, since technically she can't work anymore even with her diploma.

You are not first generation. Your parents went to college.
