Probably a silly question, but I know MOST colleges want a minimum of 3 years of a foreign language. But what if you had two years of that foreign language in Middle School, and you took it two more years in high school (freshman and sophmore years.) Would it be recognized by colleges or would it be irrelevant, and if that's the case would that significantly hurt one's chances of getting into a good college?

This would be interesting to me too, since I took Latin II in 8, Latin III in 9, Greek I/II 10, German II 11 (skipped German I), and German III now as a senior.

it counts as however many years the highest level course is. if you take span 1, 2, 3, in middle school and span 4 in hs, that's 4 yrs. if you know spanish on your own and take only in span 4, thats also seen as 4 yrs. of course, jumping into span ap and failing will look worse....

according to two different college counselors, that is.
