Question about foreign language requirements to skip classes

My wife has a 2-year degree and is considering returning to a south florida public college for 2 more years to get a BS degree. She is Japanese and the advisor said she must take some sort of test for Japanese in order to opt out of the foreign language requirement.

I'm not sure if this is a CLEP test or some other sort of test. Has anyone taken this test and how difficult is it? (for Japanese or any other language). Is there study guides available or any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I don't think there's a CLEP test but there's an AP Japanese test. If the college doesn't offer one, she could take the test with high school students but she would have to call AP services by the 28th at the latest. (It will cost her $86, but the college should grant college credit for it)

If she intends to opt-out of the language requirement because she is a native speaker, the difficulty shouldn't matter.

You need to clarify what the advisor meant by a test. Many colleges have their own placement tests for languages. An SAT II can be what some colleges use. For example, you mention a "south florida public college," which can be a number of schools but University of South Florida has its own language placement exams and if you just call its Division of Languages and Linguistics you could probaly find out what they are.
