Many of my EC’s, or rather the majority of them, are not school-related, and all the ECs listed that you can select are school-related. Plus, I’m not given the opportunity to talk briefly about each of them like on the Common App. What should I do here? Can I send them a resume?
Yes you can send them a resume, it is like the first page of the Application supplement right after the option of uploading a picture
Yes. My ds also wrote about stuff in his special skills essay.
I wrote about “Having extensive knowledge of Sith philosophy” in my special skills section. Do you think they’ll reject me for being a nerd if I include this?
I would hope they’d accept you as someone fun. I think ds included something “fun,” too.
@drcharisma idk if they’re into that stuff but that’s pretty legit lol
Colleges don’t always want resumes, as they are repetitive with the app and require them to move back and forth between them to look for consistency and information. You can use the Additional Information section if the tiny space under activities doesn’t allow you to list your awards and accomplishments, though. Or if you have something that just doesn’t fit under any category you are allowed to create in the Activities section.
Just don’t write a whole new essay in the Additional Info section. Keep the information brief and factual; a bullet list of specifics under an app is good.
Example: If you participated in Quiz Bowl and can create an activity for it, put in your hours and grade info, then say “See Additional Information section” in the space for comments. Then in the Additional Info section, you might have a header that says:
Activities - Quiz Bowl
- Team captain - 11th & 12th grade
- Specialties in literature, music, and art.
- State tournament - top freshman in state award, 9th grade. 20th place - 10th grade. 12th place - 11th grade. 3rd place - 12th grade (545 participants)
- #1 individual at Carleton Snobowl tournment in 12th grade of 234 participants.
- Attended ACE Quiz Bowl camps after 10th & 11th grade.
- Team won sectionals in 11th and 12th grade
If you want to use bullets, I think you need to create your text in a plain text editor that is not “Word” and upload it. Print it out to be sure of formatting.
@intparent There is no Additional Info section for the Georgetown app
Ah, sorry, forgot they had not cut over… one of the very last hold outs.
@intparent Yup
