Question about getting a used textbook

my cal I math list early transcendentals 2008 rutgers custom edition as the required textbook, it should have no used book available and I want to know if there is a problem if I am buying 2007 non custom edition version of the book.

I've emailed to the peer mentor and the professor 2 days ago, the peer mentor don't know if I can get a used book and the professor haven't reply me yet but

I got to order book soon since I need them to be shipped before the next week...so I'm asking here, anyone help?

thanks a lot

Can only give you a generic answer. Ordinarily the content changes from one edition to another aren't that significant. The practical difficulties occur with the problem sets. The author will change 2, 3, or 4 problems (per set) in the new edition and anyone working from an older one will be lost. I've never dealt with a "custom edition", but could only guess that the difficulty would be compounded.

Only the prof can give you a proper reading and it's unfortunate that he's unresponsive.

And if you think the only reason all of these less-than-extensive revisions get done for the sole purpose of selling more, more expensive books, then you think right.
