I am currently a student at community college and I was wondering, do employers consider only your GPA from the 4-year university you studied at or do they also consider grades from community college?
Thanks!

Every employer does so differently, but I’m pretty sure they place more emphasis on your GPA from where you will be getting your degree.
Yes, it very much depends on the company and many times the individual manager. I was always a stickler for asking to see all college level grades. I would be most interested in your upper division classes as those were the most indicative as to your knowledge level. I didn’t pay much attention to non-STEM classes.
It really does vary by company and industry. The tech companies I have worked for don’t really seem to care that much about GPA. If you put it on the resume I will read it, but it does not make that much difference unless it is below 3. I have never heard of anyone asking to see grades or proof that you actually have a degree. You just have to make it through a screening interview and 6+ hours of on site interviews and presenting a design project. Having interesting work or design experience is the thing that will get you a phone interview at my company.
My company did a lot of government contracts (NASA and Air Force) and billed the government different rates for degreed engineers and non-degreed support people (we didn’t have non-degreed engineers). To justify and document the higher (typically!!) rate for the engineers, a transcript with a notation of the degree awarded was required. HR would also require a GPA 3.0 or higher to approve the hire.
We would get a lot of resumes and as long as the transcripts were available, I did use them as part of my candidate evaluation. We always had many more candidates than jobs and why not use the information that was easily available to help make the decision.
So, it does vary by company and to some extend by industry.
My husband’s company does the same thing as @HPuck35 's company. GPA of 3.0 is the minimum to get through the filters.
Thank you for the information!
@HPuck35 I do wonder that in cases where candidates have attempted coursework at more than one university, do you only care about the GPA from institutions where a degree was or will be granted, or the GPA from all US and Canadian institutions attended, or the GPA from all institutions attended (including foreign/study abroad institutions)?
umcoe16: Depends on circumstances. I had one guy I hired that had flunked out of one college and then spent a few years working in a machine shop type environment. He then decided to go back to college (at a different college) and did real well. I only looked at his later grades as those were the ones I felt were relevant to the person I was looking to hire. He turned out to be a real good engineer. He just needed to mature a bit from his first college experience and really figure out what he wanted to do.
