Question about Gpa when applying?

Hi, this is my first post on the forums, and I was wondering if MSU takes the wieghted gpa if you take AP courses or if it is all unweighted? If it is unweighted what kind of GPA do you need to get in?
Thanks for the help

Freshmen Admission Criteria
Admission to Michigan State University is competitive, but there are no minimum requirements. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. MSU strongly encourages a college preparatory curriculum in high school. Students also are advised to apply early in their senior year.

Freshman admission is based on:
your academic performance in high school
the strength and quality of your curriculum
recent trends in your academic performance
your class rank
your ACT or SAT results
your leadership, talents, conduct, and diversity of experience
Fall 2008 Freshman Profile
Entering class: 7,250 (est.)
High school GPA: 3.44-3.85*
Composite ACT: 23-27*
Composite SAT (Critical Reading and Math): 1030-1260*

 • middle 50 percent of admitted freshmen

Not sure exactly what one they take, but post your weighted GPA and they will look on your transcript to see both. I am pretty sure that they take weighted, but don’t quote me on it.

I’ve heard they look at unweighted GPA but consider the difficult courses you’ve taken.

MSU recalculates your GPA based on your core classes. I think they use an unweighted GPA but consider your classes. If your unweighted GPA is 3.0 or better you should consider sending them an application. Chances increases as GPA increases.

res ipsa is right. They use unweighted and on their scale. However, the rigor of your courses is very important.

Ok thanks guys and Im not sure if they do it like U of M but they do it so every B+, B-, and B is a 3.0, A-, A+, A is a 4. 0. Does anyone know if that is how State does it? Thnx for replying

A is an A doesn’t matter if it’s +, reg, -, etc.
